Canyon Lake as a fishery is very unique to the Texas Hill Country with it’s crystal clear waters, deep pool, and diverse species. The lake is formed by the inflow of the Guadalupe River on the Northwest end and a man made dam on the Southeast. Below the dam, the Guadalupe River forms the tail-race that is widely known to trout fly fisher enthusiasts and is the Southernmost Trout fishery in the United States. Because of this, Canyon Lake is often overlooked for the opportunities it possesses for the fly angler.
Depending on the time of year, anglers can expect to begin the morning either sightcasting for tailing carp, pounding away at the shallows for a topwater eat, or chasing schooling stripers across the lake.
The fishing is done out of a Hells Bay Skiff and we can accommodate up to two anglers.
